Transition Timelines
Beginning to socially, medically, legally, and/or professionally transition can be quite overwhelming and there can be so many unknowns. You may find that you are unsure of where to start and lack the resources needed to meet your goals. Creating a Transition Timeline may be a helpful option for you as it will help create a blueprint and plan for your journey. A Transition Timeline session is a session in which you and I will create a literal timeline of your gender journey, including the hows and whens of accomplishing whatever tasks you feel are a part of your current gender journey. The timeline will feature the steps you desire to take in your transition and the timeline in which you would like to do them. I will also provide you with resources to assist you in moving through and accomplishing each of these steps. Transition Timeline sessions typically take 1-3 sessions to complete, dependent on where you are at in your journey and what your journey entails.
The hero’s quest
You are just living your life until one day there is a trigger to the realization that you are transgender or nonbinary.
You are called to the quest of pursuing a social and/or medical transition and everything that is associated with this.
“Wait!,” you say, “I don’t want to be trans or nonbinary. That just seems too hard. Everyone will hate me.”
Then you meet your mentor who will help guide you through this journey to be, unapologetically, your most authentic and comfortable self.
“I’m ready” you say and you move forward in your quest. A quest of all quests.
This is where the social transition begins—the stage of coming out. There will be many tests, allies, and enemies you will face along this journey. The hero must prepare themselves for greater trials to come and this stage of the quest will test your skills and at times, you may need some additional coaching from your mentor.
This is where you begin to approach the mouth of the beast. Rest dear one, you will need it.
After you are well rested, you will proceed to the stage of your journey where you will face your greatest fears---coming out to those who have the potential of becoming upset about your transition. This could be parents, spouses, best friends, cousins, aunties, etc. This is the magical stage of any journey, the overcoming of fear, which allows you, the hero, to be reborn, and experience a resurrection that grants greater power and insight and a stronger desire to see this journey through to the end.
You have slayed the dragon of your biggest fears. You are liberated and free. You do not have to be somebody you are not anymore.
Your journey is not over yet. People in your life may misgender and misname you. You will have to remind, correct, and assert these things to the folx in your life. It may take months, years even. It is a tireless journey but well worth it in the end.
You now decide whether medically transitioning is in the cards for you. This is the final ordeal you will face.
If you decide yes, you will receive the elixir, a great treasure and magic potion--- hormone therapy. If you choose not to receive the elixir, you will continue your gender exploration journey and continually make the decisions that are best for you. If you do decide to receive the elixir, there is yet another quest waiting for you…
